Muppets Night is a tradition we have with my moms side of the family. It is super awesome and fun. We all go to my grandparents house and watch The Muppets Christmas Carol. Sometimes we watch other movies to. This year I also did cookie baking, on the same day.

Point Dance

I started ballet a long time ago before this blog was made. It just so happened that this year, I became old enough to start point. The one that stereotypically hurts a lot. It doesn't hurt to much if I'm not up for to long. Mom came to open house and had me do a lot of stuff. But that's okay. I enjoy it a lot and have a lot of fun.

All Grown Up

This is Breanne (not my mom or dad). I'm in middle school now. And David is in elementary school. The new baby boy, his name is Jacob and he is also in elementary school. We moved last year and our new house is awesome and beautiful. I discovered this in one of my classes when we were searching our names on the internet. I searched Breanne Honza. And because it said "Honza" on the end, One of the things that popped up was "The Honza Family Blog". At first I thought there must be some other Honza family. But I clicked it, and I saw that I was in it, several times. I went home that day and asked my parents if they had any recollection of the Blog. My mom laughed and was like "Oh yeah! I remember that!" I told her I wanted to start it again and she agreed. But only if I could find out how to post. SO today, I was showing the videos to my grandmother. Once she had seen them all, I investigated a bit further to find out more. And somehow I found out how to post! :) So now I can  :) Here's the family if you want to know what we look like now. I look totally different!

The whole family!

My Kind of Mothers Day-minus the Plague

Today is Mothers Day and as I'm typing, Brandon is doing the dishes and the kids are watching Transformers but what I want to talk about happened this morning.  This morning Bre gave me the best Mothers Day gift ever.  The gift of laughter and tears all at once.  See, Brandon had done the 'sleep in' Mother's Day tradition yesterday knowing that he had an 8 a.m. soccer game on Mothers Day.  (who schedules these things anyway) So this morning, it was just me and the kids.  We had medicated David at around 5:30 (he has the plague) so he was still asleep and Bre was the first awake.  She came into our room.

"Mommy, stay in bed...Ok?...don't get out."

"Um...Ok." (Thinking Brandon had put her up to something)

At this point she goes downstairs and to the kitchen.  Now, we have a very small house so I can pretty much hear everything going on downstairs and my daughter...well...she likes to talk.  To friends, to strangers, to herself, it doesn't really matter.  So this is where the real fun is.  It becomes apparent early on that she is attempting to make me breakfast.  This is a little nerve wrecking for me since she is only five and there is a plethora of things for her to hurt herself on or make a mess with.  So from upstairs I hear the stool moving around, the cabinets opening and closing and her narriating the whole thing.

(Fridge opening)

"Oh no, we only have heals, oh well."

Stool slides

"I'm going to give Mommy a GREEN plate and a Yellow cup."

Stool slides, toaster goes down.  I'm thinking, "Oh no, she's going to burn herself trying to get the toast out...let her be...let her be...I need to let her do this."

Silence

"Pop UP toaster, pop UP!"  (Patience apparently isn't really her thing)

Toaster pops, stool slides, fridge opens and closes, drawer opens.

"Ugh...I can't get it!"  (This was apparently the jelly she couldn't open)

"Wellllllll, Mommy likes Cream Cheese."

Me:  Leave her be, I have to let her do this.

Fridge opens, milk cartons pops open.

At this poing I'm laughing and crying all at once and worrying.  "Oh no, how full is that carton?  Can she lift it?  Don't Spill!!!  Let her be...let her be...I need to let her do this."  As it turns out, she is a pretty independent kid!

"I have to bring these to Mommy, but first I have to put everything away."  (Have I mentioned that I love this kid!  She even put everything away!!!)

She comes upstairs with a big smile on her face, a plate with cream cheese toast in one hand and a cup of milk in the other.  At this point I'm full out crying while simultaniously trying not to freak her out by crying.

We sat and cuddled while I ate the breakfast she made me and I thought about how much I love my babies.  It was the best start to a Mothers Day and she did it all herself.  No prompting from Daddy, no help from Mommy.  It was perfect.

Except for the whole Hand Foot Mouth virus that has infected David and seems to have started this evening with Breanne.  Fever and a rash of blisters that make them look like they have the plague.  So we were quarantined for the rest of the day but we made the most of it and brought the fun to us instead of going out.

Breanne's New "Pet"

Kids love nature and all things concerning animals and Breanne is no different.  But with Breanne the smaller the better.  For some reason, really really small things are "sooooo cuuuute!"  Of course in the animal kingdom the smallest of these things are bugs.  Breanne often likes to dig up worms, rolly polly bugs (I have no idea what they are really called) and caterpillars.  The only bugs she is not a fan of are spiders and since they aren't really insects anyway, they don't count.

Anyway, yesterday she got off the school bus with a huge smile on her face and two paper bowls stapled together.  "I have a new pet!"  To say she was excited would be an understatement.  Attempting to be a good mother but not really into bugs myself I feigned excitement for her and her new pet.  "Oh, great hun!  What have you got?"  She shakes the bowls like a tambourine.  "A caterpillar!  A Gypsy!"  "Fantastic" I said.  "Great, the thing stinks and will be smushed on my living room floor in no time" I think.  Well she turned out to be a pretty good caterpillar mommy.  She came in, got it some grass and leaves.  (Is that even what these things eat?) and found it a new home in the butterfly tent Mom-mom got her last year that is supposed to be for actual butterflies not gross little gypsy moths that kill plants.

Needless to say Brandon and I had little hope for this poor thing.  He had been found hours earlier at recess which means he'd most likely been passed around the classroom, handled by most kids, taken on a bus ride, and then shaken like a musical instrument before finding a nice resting place in our butterfly tent.  David even had a little interest in him which for the most part is very very dangerous.

Well wouldn't you know it, the darn thing survived and found a nice secure place in his cocoon in the tent.  We were shocked.  Bre was proud.  And in a few days, we'll have a nice moth flying around.  Fun! I think we may have to order some more butterflies.

Azul

I love my boys. And by my boys I mean, my boy David and my nephew C who spends a couple of days a week at my house. I like to pretend that he's mine because he's really well behaved and generally pretty calm so it makes me feel like I'm doing a good job. Of course I have nothing to do with this and it's really my brother and sister in law who have done a great job with this little guy. Yesterday as the boys were sitting around the table, C notices David being grumpy and rubbing his eyes.

C: "Dabid tired?"

Me: "No, David's not tired, he just has pink eye."

C is completely confused and looks at me like I have five heads.

C: "No, no, no (He always says no three times when he thinks you're a lunatic) Dabid has boo eyes"

Me: "Well yes, but David is sick and has an infection called 'pink eye'" Cause every 2 year old knows what an infection is right?

C: "No, no NO awin (Lauren) Dabid has BOO eyes!"

At this point I'm sure, he's thinking, "Geeze Mom, why do you leave me Her! She doesn't even know her colors!" And to clarify this for me in case I don't understand English, he says,

C: "Awin...azul" Looking at me very intently like this is how he is going to get through to me. "No, no, no pink, awin, Dabid has azul eyes, Ok??"

Me: "Yes hun, David has blue eyes, but . . . nevermind . . . you're right, David has azul eyes"

C was very pleased with himself that he had finally taught me the difference between blue and pink.

"I hab lunch now?"

Cause his favorite thing next to proving you wrong is eating lunch.

Boys and Balloons

Today I am thankful for whoever invented balloons. The boys played with them like this for 45 minutes straight! They never seemed to get bored and it did a great job of tiring them out for naps.

Dancing in the Moonlight

There are lots of things that our family likes to do together. We play games, we wrestle, we play disk golf...ok, Brandon plays and I walk, I throw like a girl. Above all else though, we love to dance. Not because we're good either...trust me, we're not. There's no dance floor material here. (Unless we're talking about the three Honza brothers at a wild wedding, then we might have something to talk about) But seriously, we are strictly closed curtains, don't answer the door type people when it comes to our dance skills. Tonight however, I thought this was worth sharing. Brandon decided tonight was the night to pass down the knowledge of valuable dance moves to his ready to learn daughter. Dance she did, and it's the cutest. Go Breanne!
